After a successful career as a national-level sprinter, Glenn turned his focus towards coaching athletes ranging from U10 to University to Professional. He has been providing fitness services for youth sports since 1997. In 1999, after graduating from the University of Calgary with a degree in Kinesiology, the majority of Glenn's time has been spent training Calgary's Minor soccer athletes and Major League club teams, helping them develop acceleration, agility / quickness, power, endurance and strength. Playing soccer in his youth gives Glenn a unique perspective into soccer fitness training. He is recognized as a creative and innovative strength and conditioning coach with a specialty in developing speed, quickness and agility.
Glenn has in the past (2001-2003), consulted with Nick Ward (former Professional Soccer Fitness Coach from England), where he has worked with professional clubs, Newcastle United Youth Academy and Hartlepool United.
Glenn worked with the University of Calgary Women's Dinos Soccer team for over 8 years (1999-2007).
Glenn is currently the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for the National Training Center Prairies (Soccer Canada – 2005-present).
Richard Unwin
Richard has a long and extensive career of playing soccer and coaching. Originally from England, he played Schoolboy soccer for his local professional club, Swindon. He later went on to Captain the Highworth Town first team in the Hellenic Premier League in his first season of semi-pro soccer. Richard qualified with the F.A - with both his Level 2 and Level 3 coaching certificates to give him a full UEFA ‘B' License.
He coached at the Swindon town youth academy and at Premier League, Southampton FC's youth academy. While volunteer coaching for his home town club of Wootton Bassett, he made a return to Hellenic Premier league Soccer following a long layoff due to injury, securing the ce ntre midfield position. He was the oldest player on the team by 6 years, a testament to his knowledge and dedication to fitness and training.
Since moving to Calgary – in 2008, Richard has been involved with technical coaching for both the Blizzard and Foothill's Soccer Clubs. He brings with him extensive knowledge and experience of fitness training and soccer coaching.
Morena Ianniello

Morena is currently in her 4th year at the University of Calgary. In the fall of 2010 – she will have her Bachelor of Kinesiology. She plans to apply to the top Medicine Schools across North America - in hopes of fulfilling her dream of becoming a dermatologist.
Morena started playing soccer in 1993 - when she was only 5 years old for the Edgemont Community Association. She played for numerous teams throughout her youth and spent most of her minor league days playing for the Blizzards Soccer Club. In 2006 – she decided to try-out for the University of Calgary Dinos, where she has had plenty of success.
In Fall 2009 - Morena was in the top ten for Canada West point leaders. Currently, she plays for Callies Major in the Women’s Major League. Morena has coached several minor teams over the past 5 years and enjoys sharing her knowledge and skills with the youth players in Calgary. Re-connecting with Glenn Vergie has given her the opportunity to provide fitness training for teams throughout the city.
Regan Hesjedal
Regan is originally from Saskatchewan and moved to Calgary in 1999 to attend the University of Calgary. A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with a Bachelor in Kinesiology, Regan began his career training various teams and youth.
Regan has since been certified in Olympic lifting, and attended many workshops geared towards athletes’ development and performance. Since 2004 - Personal training and strength coaching has been his specialty. An enthusiasm for all sports has driven Regan to work with many young athletes and professional athletes on a one on one basis.
He is known for maximizing speed and technique in order to improve an athlete’s performance. Regan can bring practical application as well as excitement to strongly impact any youth or professional athlete. Regan puts knowledge and energy into his training sessions. With a focus on proper technique, explosiveness and injury prevention. He is confident he can help any athlete achieve their goals and take their game to the next level.
